Academic Projects & Summer School at IPR

IPR offers exciting opportunities for students and young researchers to engage with cutting-edge fusion and plasma science through short-term academic projects and the prestigious annual Summer School Programme (SSP).

These programs are open to students from universities and institutes across India and provide hands-on experience in experimental, theoretical, and computational plasma research.

Academic Projects
Academic Projects

IPR accepts students for short-term academic project work (M.Sc. / M.Tech / B.Tech dissertation projects) under guidance of IPR faculty. Students get an opportunity to work on live research problems in the following areas:

  • Fusion/Basic/Theory/Simulation/Engineering research
  • Plasma diagnostic development
  • Computational modelling of plasma systems
  • Tokamak operations and data analysis

Duration: 2 to 6 months depending on program requirements.
Stipend: Nominal support may be provided based on availability of funds.
Application: Submit CV and NoC from parent institution to the Academic Coordinator.

Summer School Programme (SSP)

The IPR Summer School Programme is an annual 4–6 week intensive program designed for undergraduate and postgraduate students interested in plasma physics and fusion energy.

Eligibility: Students in their 3rd year of BSc/BE or 1st year of MSc/MTech in Physics or related disciplines.

Schedule: May–June each year. Applications open in February–March.

Activities include:

  • Lectures by IPR scientists and external experts
  • Lab tours and hands-on experiments
  • Research project work under faculty guidance
  • Seminars and student presentations
